Abbring puts the 208T16 on top

France’s round of the 2014 FIA World Rally Championship saw Kevin Abbring and his co-driver Seb Marshall claim the RC2 class win in their 208T16 which also completed the event as the best-placed non-WRC car. The Peugeot Rally Academy driver produced a stunning performance throughout the 18-stage event.

In addition to his participation in this season’s ERC, Kevin Abbring’s programme was extended to include the Rallye de France-Alsace where his mission was to win the RC2 class. The Dutchman hit the ground running on Day 1, posting a sequence of class-topping stage times that put him 30 seconds clear of Quentin Gilbert by the end of the leg. He then doubled that margin on the Saturday before controlling from in front on the last day. His performance provided another eloquent demonstration of the 208T16’s speed and potential against stiff opposition. On top of his six RC2 stage victories, Kevin rounded off his week by finishing 14th overall!

Another victory for the 208T16…

Since the car was introduced this year, 26 orders for the 208T16 have been placed to date and the car is proving just as successful on the stages. Its first major result was Greece’s round of the ERC, the Acropolis Rally, with Craig Breen, while Paolo Andreucci has also scored three wins in Italy where Peugeot Italy has clinched its eighth Manufacturers’ title! The list of successes also includes the victory of Bruno Magalhaes in Madeira!

Congratulations to Stéphane Lefebvre, the 2014 Junior World Champion*

Another member of the Peugeot Rally Academy’s ERC squad with something to celebrate today is Stéphane Lefebvre, this year’s Junior World Champion! The French youngster is also in contention to win the European Junior crown in his 208R2!
